5 5k's

I completed my 5th 5k on Sunday! This was my 4th Komen Race for the Cure. I ran the race in 30 minutes and 22 seconds. I'm proud of that since I only had 2 months to prepare and didn't really train outside...just on the treadmill mostly. There were a lot of hills too! But I only walked less than a minute after one hill to catch my breath and ran the rest of it! I'm planning on keeping up my running and at the beginning of the year, I will try to build up to be able to run the Capital 10k again by April! We'll see! I know I can do it. I just have to stay focused! :) I have now lost 21 lbs from my 2 week check-up after Marjorie and still hope to lose 10-15 more at least. I think in 5 more pounds I should be back in my size 12 jeans and then hope to go on down to my 10's by mid February. That is my update!

Still On My Way!

I'm still slowly on my way...I'm only averaging losing a pound a week, but that is better than gaining! At least I know I'm doing it! I think it will be easier to keep off as well going slowly and is better for me. I had all those issues last time I lost all that weight so quick with my menstral cycle, so I don't want that this time.

I've been running, doing the elliptical, and also doing 2 classes a week: body pump on Mondays and Body Attack on Thursdays. This gives me a good mix up so my body doesn't get used to the same old thing and also keeps me from getting bored. I've worked up to running 3.1 miles on the treadmill at about 5.9 mph. I'm slowly working my way up to quicker and want to be running 4 to 4.5 miles on the treadmill by the race in a month so I can run the 3.1 outdoors with hills!

Nothing else to report. Just wanted to make note that I'm still at it even though I haven't written here in a while.

An accomplishment

The scale only showed 1 pound down this week which stinks! I know I should be happy it was down, but I just wish I could lose at least 2 a week! This is so slow!

I was happy later though when I went to the gym and was able to run 3 miles straight on the treadmill without stopping to walk and I still wasn't out of breath at the end...just melting with sweat. But that made me feel great! That means I'm getting in better shape and building my endurance! I'm feeling better about running that 5k in a little over a month.

Just trying to keep my eyes on the prize!

Weighing tomorrow

Just hoping I see some movement on the scale tomorrow! I've been working hard! Body Attack at the gym this morning was tough! I could feel the sweat running everywhere...I know, gross! But that was good! I'm so ready to see a big change! I'm definitely able to run farther now even though I'm still not going the speed I would like, but I can work on that once I build up my distance. Just trying to stay on track!

I'm Still on Track

I haven't been on here in a few days, but I'm still on track! It is just so hard to find the time to get on and write each day although I'm going to keep trying when I can. I did work out every week day this past week. I just missed this weekend since we had family in visiting and things going on. I didn't gain weight at least. We didn't eat the best, but I didn't go overboard either, so I'm right where I have been.

I took my first body pump class today since having my baby and it was tough! I've been trying to do mostly cardio, but just missed it so much, so I had to go back! Plus I have to remind myself that I need to build that muscle too to burn more fat and just seeing my instructors awesome arms inspires me! I would love so have such muscular and toned arms! I'm not talking body builder arms, but just beautiful toned ones...no flab at all!

I snuck out during the last 2 tracks to run a mile before getting my kids since I can do abs at home, but can't get a run in always! Then I went to pick them up to hear that my older two had been fighting with each other and had to be separated 3 times! Oh, boy...glad they weren't hurting other kids, but then don't want this either. Looks like I've got another job on my hands of getting them to be kind to each other after lecturing them about being kind to others!

So anyway, here's to Monday and starting out fresh again. Hoping and praying for another pound and hopefully 2 gone on Friday!

Day 8

For some reason my son decided it was time to get up at 6:20 this morning. I had fed the baby at 5:30 and just gotten back to sleep when he was in there telling me to get up. I told him it wasn't time to get up and to go lay down. But he kept playing outside our bedroom and making noise and after telling him a few times, he finally went to his room, but then it was 6:45, so then at 7 my daughter gets up, so I was pretty groggy this morning.

I had a hard time getting going, but we did make it to the gym. I only ran a mile and a half total and then did the elliptical the rest of my usual cardio time plus abs. I could sure go for a nap today!

Day 7

With my baby girl having her 2 month check-up in the morning and having my Willow House party in the evening, I had to quickly squeeze in a work-out. I went to the gym straight from my daughter's appointment and shots and worked out for about 45 minutes since I needed to get home and do some cleaning and bake some cookies for the party before I had to pick up the kids from preschool. I just did the elliptical and abs. But a quick workout was better than none at all!

Day 6!

1 more pound down as of this morning! Yay! I ran 1.25 miles this morning before walking for .10 and then running the rest of the 2nd mile. Then did 25 minutes on the elliptical followed by abs for 10 minutes.

My baby girl is 2 months old today! Proud to be on track again and hopefully will be a lot closer to my goal by the time she is 3 months!

Day 5

I was jumping for joy this morning when I saw 2 lbs down on the scale this morning! Yipee! It is hard to keep going when you aren't seeing any results and when you do, it is such an inspiration that yes, I'm doing it!

I was so pumped up, I ran 2 miles straight this morning without walking in between! That felt awesome! Not as quick as I would like to work up to, but still it was an accomplishment, and then after being called to the gym daycare to change a dirty diaper...yuck....I came back and ran another half mile, so 2.5 miles total today! I'm getting there! Slowly but surely!

Then I did my 20 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes of abs.

Today I'm working on some house cleaning before I have a home decor party here on Tuesday to benefit my Race for the Cure funds. So maybe I'll still burn some more calories today! :)

On another note, I'm impressed with my willpower and how I'm sticking to my calorie count. I'm determined and sticking with it! I didn't even cave for a cupcake at the birthday party last night. I'm proud of myself! Gotta keep up the work! I'm so ready to pack up these maternity clothes!!!

Day 4

I got up and took all the kids to the gym this morning. I think I sweated more than any day this week today for some reason. Don't know if the gym was warmer today or what! But I couldn't do the mile today in a row, so I decided to at least try to improve on how fast I could do the total 2 miles of running I've been doing. So I ran half a mile, walked .10, ran half a mile, walked .10, etc. for 4 cycles to make 2 miles and doing so, I ran it in about 27 minutes total instead of 30 without some of the walking time in between. Maybe that is where the sweating came in!? Then I did my normal 20 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes of abs.

I didn't have the best choices in foods today. Hubby made breakfast for lunch which was yummy! But I at least tried to eat less of it than normal. Then we had a birthday party to attend this evening, so I had a burger, but at least I didn't snack in between and also I got the kids' donuts this morning and didn't have one myself! That is willpower! ha ha.

Back to the gym tomorrow! The mission continues!

Day 3

Got a great work out in today. Similar to my first day, I ran a mile, walked .25, ran half a mile, walked .25 and then ran another half a mile. Then I did 20 minutes on elliptical and 10 minutes of ab work.

Then I took advantage of the nice weather we have been having and went out when I got home and did some yard work hoeing out all the weeds and dead stuff from the flower beds. They were looking terrible from the drought. They still don't look great, but tons better! Now you can actually see the plants that are alive! But doing all that work was another work-out pretty much! Then in the evening I did some organizing in the garage.

It was a productive day! I stayed at the same weight from the night before for my weigh in, so my total loss for the week from the previous Friday was only half a pound, but I'll take that. At least it is something! Especially with no working out for 5 days of that week and eating bad over the previous weekend. Hoping to see more results next week!

Day 2

I did a great job sticking with my calorie counting today! It is nice knowing how I did it last time, so I can focus on it and know I can do it! I put my starting weight yesterday at what I was last Friday for my weigh-in. I am in a weight-loss after baby group online with some friends I have online from what-to-expect and facebook and we weigh-in on Fridays and I hadn't weighed since then because I was scared to know how much I messed up over the past weekend with eating bad and not working out, but was happy to see tonight when I weighed to be half a pound down! I was scared it was going to be higher! So that was good after my break!

Today I went to my first group exercise class since having my daughter. I went to Body Attack and boy, was that a tough class to jump back into! But that is what I needed and really pushed me to the limits and made me sweat! I swear if I did that everyday I would lose 5 lbs a week, but that would just be too tough! Lots of ladies in the class remembered me from when I was pregnant in there, so they asked about my daughter and it was nice to know they missed me! :)

Weigh-in tomorrow morning for my weightloss group! Maybe another half pound down??? Would be nice to at least put in a pound loss for the week! We'll see.

Back to the Drawing Board

I thought I would re-start this blog again, but I'll have to get around to re-naming it! Now it needs to be Toning Up After 3! My 3rd child was born on July 12 and that was 8 weeks ago yesterday. It is time to begin getting rid of the baby weight and get out of maternity clothes! I've been trying to watch my eating for the past couple of weeks when I could. But going out of town messed that up some. I also have been running around the neighborhood when my husband was home since 6 weeks, but didn't get to go for 4 days while visiting family.

So I'm going to consider today day 1 since I finally was able to go back to the gym today. I'm going to get on track like I have done in the past! The only thing this time is that I won't be able to work out as much. Our gym daycare only allows babies to stay 1 hour up until they are 7 months old, so I'm just going to have to make the most of that hour with no breaks! Not that I ever stayed 2 hours, but that was nice to have if I went to an hour class and then just wanted to do a little on the elliptical or something to finish off like if I had just done weights that day. Also when I began my journey before, I had been working out, but just wanted to tone up and this time I'm starting fresh from not going to the gym for 10 weeks! Yikes! I definitely noticed the difference!

My goal this round of course is to lose the weight from pregnancy and fit into my old clothes and then also to be ready to run the Race for the Cure 5k on November 13th!

Day 1 Workout:
Ran/Walked for 30 minutes....ran a mile at 5.5 mph, walked .25 miles, ran half a mile, walked .25 miles, then ran another half mile....so ran 2 miles total.

Elliptical machine for 20 minutes

Abs for 10 minutes
